Located 45 minutes from Graaff-Reinet in the Great Karoo, Samara offers one of South Africa’s most diverse safaris –covering 67,000 acres across mountains and plains of heart-lifting beauty, home to over 60 mammal species including the Big Five and cheetah. This May, Samara is partnering with two celebrated South African wine-makers over the two weekends of the renowned Graaff-Reinet Stoep Tasting festival to offer an unforgettable wine in the wilderness experience.

Each 2-night journey has been curated for those who appreciate both the delights of safari and the sophistication of an expertly-crafted wine.

Featuring Dewaldt Heyns, member of the Winemakers’ Guild and wine-maker at Dewaldt Heyns Family Wines, showcasing his Weathered Hands collection. Formerly cellar-master at Saronsberg Wine Cellar in Tulbagh, Dewaldt is one of South Africa’s pre-eminent Shiraz specialists. Learn more here.

24-26 May 2024 | Cheetahs and Chardonnay

Featuring Jean-Claude Martin, co-owner and wine-maker at Creation Wines in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Jean-Claude established Creation from the ground up with a commitment to environmental and socio-economic sustainability, highlighting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Learn more here.

Each journey includes daily game drives to track these graceful predators and the reserve's other wild inhabitants – from charismatic lion and black rhinoceros to vast herds of springbok and flocks of Blue Crane.
