Locally-sourced & cooked with love
Our cuisine embraces South African classics with a Karoo twist, designed to create comforting aromas harking back to a simple farm lifestyle with locally-sourced ingredients. Favourites include our famous Karoo lamb burger with agave buds, roosterkoek (Afrikaans for ‘grilled bread’) and homemade pickles.
All food is grown or purchased locally. The Karoo is well-known for its excellent lamb and we support local farmers through the butcheries we purchase from. We also have a herb garden and vegetable garden on the reserve, as well as our own regeneratively-farmed lamb and beef.
Each lodge has its own indoor and outdoor dining areas where meals are served: from a dining room with fireplace to a traditional reed ‘boma’ or outdoor enclosure with firepit. Meal service is relaxed, with various seating options available, from dedicated tables to communal eating and private meals.

Our favourite relishes
Guacamole, bread and butter pickle, onion marmalade and chilli sauce - four key staples for your repertoire - and your pantry!View recipes
A light dessert
Panna cotta with spun sugar
It tends to get rather hot in the Karoo during the day, so we love serving refreshing deserts to end off indulgent meals.View recipe
A favourite for the braai
South Africans love to braai, and what better accompaniment to the chops and wors than a delicious bread baked over the fire. Enter the roosterbrood.View recipe
