Week 1 Ranger Sightings – Test

By Samara on February 5, 2013

This past week, we have encountered some unusual sightings of the Black Harrier on Kondoa .
Most of the raptors are starting to come out as well, for example, the Eastern red footed amur falcon , the African Harrier Hawk and a pair of the verreauxs eagles dynamically soaring from Kondoa. On spring bok road Tendai encountered caracals a few times, it has been so nice driving up the mountain with all the new bird species and the cape mountain Zebra making appearances.

Cheetahs have been extremely visible for over a month now! Everytime we went to look for them, either Sibella or Bellini were found at kills. Sibella has just taken over the foot hills of the Kondoa mountan, were she is doing so well taking down the juvenile gemsbok! She has been moving back and forth from North to South also catching Kudus. Sibella killed a fully grown kudu which she did not finish with her cubs. Three days after that, she brought down a gemsbok against the Kondoa mountain.

Bellini has taken over the revine, also killing a lot of juvenile kudus! Two days ago, we went to look for Bellini and she was at a kudu kill after she had just moved form a gemsbok kill between the Barraks and the tracker academy.

Rhino and Girraffe sightings have also been so amazing! We got to see girraffe on almost every drive and Rhino have also been sighted regularly on drives.
