I’m sure most of us have nostalgic memories of Christmas day as a child; getting spoiled, having a delicious feast and spending quality time with family. This is how Christmas as a child should be remembered. Yet, some children are not as fortunate. The children from Vuyani Safe Haven do not have the loving parents and financial support to allow for special Christmas memories. And so the Samara Wildlife Volunteer Programme hosts an annual Christmas party for Vuyani Safe Haven and raises money to pay for school fees, clothes and gifts.
On the 9th of December about 30 kids, as well as the carers, social workers and Vuyani board members arrived at Samara Private Game Reserve for a day of fun. It was a great success! After an exciting entrance by Santa Claus on a Land Cruiser to hand out gifts and toys, lunch was served on the lawn, followed by cake, ice cream and refreshing slices of watermelon. In the heat of the day, the swimming pool and water pistols were the main attractions, while the younger kids raced around playing ball games and flying kites.
