As an afternoon search party we went out. Word, from the morning, was she, Sibella, was on the mountain, Wolwekop. We scanned the area below and there was nothing, not even a beep on the receiver. She can’t have come down the mountain, surely she can’t move out of range that quickly.
We took are chances and headed up the steep road, if she is not up there, we are out of luck for the day. There was no sign of her at first, so we decided to venture a but further across the plato. And then finally we had some action on the receiver, a strong signal. This meant getting out into the long grass and searching on foot. After 30min search there she was, only her head above the grass level… and three meters away the year old cubs, all lazing in the afternoon sun. Success!
We stayed for 20 minutes or so, simply observing. They were so relaxed. The cubs went over to Sibella, and they were grooming and licking each other, sometimes playfully nipping. We left them there, happy with our success, but sad to leave them,we had to go down the mountain again it was getting dark.
