The weather has cleared up to make today a beautiful clear winter’s day at Samara Private Game Reserve. Driving down into the southern section of the reserve to do a mammal survey, we came across a flock of around 200 blue crane standing in the veld. Grazing amongst them were a herd of springbok. To see South Africa’s national bird and animal eating happily together was an exquisite sighting. All at once the 200 blue crane took off and flew towards Tandjiesberg, in a chorus of gurgling calls.
