As the vervets move throughout the day they usually come across other troops. This is called an “Inter-troop encounter”.
While the majority of encounters are mostly noise and not much more than vocalized threats, it is interesting to hear their distinctive calls and watch the way they face off with each other.
After these confrontations it is quite common for them to groom each other.
