The volunteers spent the day yesterday tracking one of our young male cheetah. Our search took us up Kondoa mountain where we searched the valleys. We stopped for lunch on eagle’s rock… a rock that juts from the side of the mountain and looks out over the expanse of the Camdeboo plains. The team commented that this beat lunch in an office any day! Towards to end of the day our search took us hiking up the lesser explored part of the mountain to a look-out over our neighbouring mountains. It’s a place I have never been before. One of the most wonderful aspects of working at Samara is constantly exploring new places and being surprised and overwhelmed by the beauty we find. We’ve made good progress on tracking this elusive youngster, and look forward to continuing our search next week.
